Cartoons

Popeye the Sailor Cartoons
The following complete, Agfacolor prints are either just begining to loose some blues... or they were printed that way- (the AAP titles are still stunning) so I'm calling them 'slightly shifted.' They are generally clean prints with no scratches or lines and are terrific to present. Read each description- there are some differences.

Robin Hood-Winked
One of the gang's big 'costume epics.' Olive runs the pub. Bluto is a tax collector who falls for Olive. He tries to impress her with trick archery, but Popeye makes a fool of him. He gives Popeye a root beer spiked with "Ye Olde Michael Finn."  Spinach to the rescue. Seymour Kneitel (1948) 16mm Agfacolor- Complete print with no lines and only 1 splice. The color is a little warm ... still plenty of blues and greens. 45.00

Pitchin' Woo at the Zoo
Can you believe it? The zoo keeper falls for Olive! Which one is the real wolf? Bluto wrestles the crocadile, Popeye is swallowed by a tiger, Bluto says, "You only see an ugly face like his in an animated cartoon." But it takes spinach to save Olive from the leopards. 1944 An aap print without a single splice, but a bit faded. 40.00 35.00
1944

Vacation with Play
A reminder to guys not to take their girls for granted. Bluto singles Olive out of a line of bathing beauties and makes his play, teaching her archery, golf, tennis, etc. But Popeye outdoes him at every turn. Bluto singing "I'm in the mood for love" is worth the price. 1951 Nearly perfect AAP Agfacolor color on this one... and no splices... no dissapointments. ..and only 45.00 40.00

Farmer and the Belle
Classic eternal triangle setup with Olive looking for a farmhand. Bluto and Popeye compete for the job- and for her heart. 1951 A complete, clean Agfacolor print with 1 splice. The blues are starting to go. 40.00 35.00

The Hungry Goat
1943 black and white War-era cartoon- Popeye battles a tin (and steel) eating goat who threatens to undermine the scrap metal drive by eating all the metals! He nearly destroys the destroyer. This cartoon also has references to projecting and the theater, but has strained sprocket holes throughout. Can you use it? 50.00

Blow Me Down
A perfect print of a wonderful early black and white Popeye. 1933. Original AAP print with the ship-door titles and fantastic music. Olive is a Spanish entertainer in a dance hall and Bluto is a bandit. I don't think there are any flaws to mention on this. 75.00

Spinach Packin' Popeye
1944 GREAT COLOR and lightest wear... Popeye loses a prizefight to Bluto, and must prove his manhood to Olive who is dressed in a WAC uniform. he shows her gorseous clips from the classics Sinbad the Sailor and Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves. Its another AAP original print... extra nice for 45.00

Her Honor the Mare
AAP original from 1943 with a bit of wear from TV syndication. The color is only good- bit warm. This is one of the war-era Popeyes with references to that era... When the nephews hoist the horse to the 2nd floor, her rear end is disguised to look like Hitler. 40.00

Mess Production
This was always my favorite Popeye as a kid. Olive is a "Rosie the Riveter" character welding for the war effort. She gets clunked on the head and walks through the factory in a daze... including the classic of walking on girders as cranes swing them around... a buzz saw, the crucible, etc. Spinach saves the day. 40.00

Trick or Treat
Good color on this orignal Disney Halloween cartoon- print from school library use. Donald Duck and his nephews battle a witch on Trick or Treat night. Is Donald too cheap to treat or will he be tricked? Complete, but some wear. 35.00

Underground World
1943 This is one of the incredible Superman cartoons made by the Fleischers. Faded color print. 25.00
