Management

The Municipal Court first began using a computerized Court Management System in June 1993.

On January 4th 1999, a system hardware and software upgrade was implemented. The Court is now running on a UNISYS Aquanta DS/2 server with a 333 MHz 32 bit Intel Pentium II Processor. The server is equipped with a 1.44mb 3.5 floppy disk drive, SCSI Toshiba CD-ROM drive, Hewlett Packard Internal Tape drive, 128 megabytes of RAM, and 5 hard drives configured on a RAID hot swap system. Total storage space equaling 8 gigabytes.

The computer system is protected by the APC Smart UPS 1400. This UPS will enable the server to remain live in the event of a power failure and will automatically shut the server down in proper sequence to minimize the potential loss of valuable data.

The system is all brought together by way of serial connections and ethernet connections. The serial connections are linked using two 16 port Digiboards. These connections are used to tie all of our Wyse terminals to the server.

The desktop computers communicate with a 24 port Linksys ethernet hub. This also allows the sharing of information from one PC to another.

For remote access, the system can be access through the MultiTech 33.6 bps data/fax modem.

The actual Court Management Software selected is a product of Henschen and Associates. This is a menu driven, user friendly database software package.
This software package is accompanied by a FilePro Plus database manager and a SCO Unix operating system.

With this system, information needed for day to day operations of the court is readily available throughout the building as well as selected remote sites.

The computer system is administered by Brian Butler. He has been with the Municipal Court since May 1995 and is responsible for this system and any other computer related situations that may occur.
