Reaching forth...
By God's
grace, still presenting the same old message
from the same old Book that produces the same old faith...
About April 1, 1998 I first presented my web site. I have been encouraged at the reception that has been received.
My hope has been for a web site that viewers would be glad to tell others about and return for visits to see more of what is
offered. I hope you will enjoy your visit and tell others about this site that they might visit and see for themselves a
presentation about our Great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I am always happy to have visitors as I enjoy seeing people take advantage of the study material here. That is what the web site is for. Faith comes by hearing, hearing the Word of God so I encourage viewers have a look with an open Bible searching and reading the Word along with the web site message.
I've a message of a Saviour that is mighty to save. Sinner, do you know that Saviour? What have you done with Christ? What of your future? Have you repented of your sin, and have you faith toward God through Jesus Christ our Lord? What of the following few lines? By faith have you that hope?
1. The Lord has thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give us an expected end.
2. The Lord rejoices over us with joy; He brings rest in His love, and He joys over us with singing.
3. The Lord has made an everlasting covenant, that He will not turn away from, to do good; and has put His fear in the hearts of believers, that we shall not depart from Him.
4. The Lord rejoices over us to do us good.
Are you saved? By faith these precious promises are comfort to the believer.
Usually my Online efforts are directed toward study and to my web site, corresponding by email with those having questions, comments or prayer requests on a one to one basis. The topic of discussion with that is based on faith and that to me means examining the Scriptures. I encourage correspondence by email. That requires much effort on occasion so time is sometimes a real premium. I enjoy it though and intend to keep after it. It does mean that I am not always able to answer email right away.
I make an effort not to share an email address with others without the consent of the person that writes me. I respect your privacy. I will not be sending a persons name out to broadcast their problems or personal correspondence with me. If a relevant article might be developed from my correspondence I might share it but any people that might have been involved will not have their names shared. There are situations where a person has a question and the answer is found to be helpful for others, or they might send something that would be helpful for others. In such a case I might send that out with the email address removed, or develop a new page to add to Bible Study Letters Online Tracts.
Usually when I receive prayer requests I encourage the person to continue reading the Bible, and to continue in prayer watching in the same with thanksgiving. Stay in the word, keep the faith and continue in prayer. As we continue in the Word, like Abraham against hope believe in hope. Romans 4:18 "Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be."
There are some things a Christian should desire. Fellowship with others that fear God should be desired. We live in an evil and corrupt world, and evil communications corrupt good manners (1 Cor. 15:33). We should be finding the desire for evil we once enjoyed is no longer what we want.
The Internet is a means of reaching many. Evangelism is a goal for this site. Reaching forth with he glorious gospel of grace is a passion of mine I hope is very evident. I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.
My web site in a sense is not under church authority but is my
personal witness, my being a regular member of a particular local church. I make
it a practice not to make agreements of partnership with groups Online, avoiding
the appearance of competing with or working against the local church. With that
said I am Baptist.
The local church is given the commission, and is the pillar and ground of the
truth:
Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
KJV1 Tim 3:15
15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
KJV
What is to guide us? The written text of Scripture. We should seek after a local New Testament church and see from the Scriptures, the New Testament, the rules for government of that local church. Now there are many local New Testament churches, and the popular allusion to all believers now being one church is not what is taught in Scripture. Such an allusion leaves many to speak of the condition of "the church" while all the time leaving off personal responsibility and duty to a local New Testament church. We each need to exert personal effort realizing our own responsibility, and not be supposing to shift attention to some "invisible, nonexistent church" where "they" are thought to be doing this or that or the other thing. You may read the first several chapters of Revelation to see churches are looked at individually by our Lord. Each must give account of themselves to our Lord.
So what should be looked for in a church? Look to see how the Word is presented when it is presented. Look at how members get along with each other and how church is running. A New Testament church is a body of baptized believers assembling together in the same location, not a man made building. There are to be officers of that church. With the assembly look for opportunity to serve, expand ministry and be challenged. Forced or insincere obedience does not count. We are one in Christ and One is our Master. Look for a place to go and grow while preparing for and seeking opportunity to serve.
Not all have the gifts required to be a pastor, but all that are Christian have a work to do. That is nothing to boast of. By grace we serve God, and if by grace where is boasting? Some continuing in their sin make excuses as to why they can't do much for Christ. Make no excuse for lack of Christian service.
The Scripture says that those living godly suffer persecution. When persecution comes, some stumble, falling away from Jesus, counting their peace with God a small thing. They give up their godly living. Reading "Fox's Book of Martyrs" one may see the terrible price paid by some for their faith. There may be a price to pay and the one that boldly says they will never turn back needs to beware lest they fall. In some way, all that live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer trouble or mistreatment for it. Are you waiting for the rebuke from Jesus or will you examine yourselves? It is better to suffer for righteousness than for evil behavior.
The open door given by Jesus is the reward of the faithful servant. They hate evil, and do good. Apart from grace, none would enter here. The eyes of Jesus shall try every man's work.
As those that have kept the Word go to the market, the door is opened for them to live and talk and shop as a Christian should. When they go to their place of business, the door is opened for them to conduct themselves according to the excellency of Christian behavior. When visiting distant cities where they are unknown, the door is opened for them to live and talk as a Christian. In the privacy of their homes, the door is opened for them to show their love for Jesus. While in the midst of those openly engaged in much evil, the door is opened for them to show forth the excellency of Christian character by their lives. When peace and prosperity come, the door is opened for them to be diligent to show forth faithfulness to the Lord. During the most difficult of life's experiences, the door is opened that they may display faithfulness in gratitude of God's benefits toward them. As the years advance, the door remains opened.
God has set before the faithful servant an open door effectually for service to the Lord, and no man can shut it. Jesus opens it, and no man can shut this door; Jesus shuts it, and no man can open it. The Word of God defines the standard for Christian behavior. Therein is the opening. No man adds to this or takes away from it.
As regards the standard set forth it is an open book, and no man can close it. As for adding to the Book, that is closed and no man can add to it. The Bible is the Lord's Book.

Words to the hymn:
'Tis So Sweet To trust In Jesus
Words: Louisa M. R. Stead, 1882.
Music: William James Kirkpatrick, 1882
'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, "Thus says the Lord!"
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him over and over
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!
O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
Neath the healing, cleansing flood!
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him over and over
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!
Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him over and over
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!
I'm so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him over and over
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!
