I receive the King James Bible not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God.

Romans 10:10
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I see the KJB as the word of God, and not simply another book that contains words of God. I start by believing the KJB, and I simply take the KJB, and where the other translations disagree with the KJB, and they do, I rest with the KJB. The King James Bible is Received text, i.e., Textus Receptus. The King James Bible is providentially preserved Scripture, wholly inerrant, infallible, and inspired, wholly the word of God.

I do not rest with a mass of conflicting English language translations, plus many various and conflicting original language sources. If the contradictions are considered as significant or not by conjecture, they are still contradictions. I read the Bible and see the word of God is defined as pure, true. Words that are contrary to one another, contradictory are not words pure and true.

Ps 12:6
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

2 Sam 22:31
31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

Ps 19:8
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

Ps 119:140
140 Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.

Prov 30:5
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

The word of God is pure.

The question is sometimes asked, where was the perfect Bible before the A.D. 1611 Authorized King James Bible was published. Samuel Gipp in his book, The Answer Book, has this to say:

The Answer Book, Samuel Gipp; Question #13 QUESTION: Where was the Bible before 1611? ANSWER: In the available Antiochian manuscripts. EXPLANATION: Critics of the perfect Bible like to throw out this question as though it will "stun" Bible believers. It doesn't. The overwhelming majority of Bible manuscripts existent throughout history have been the text found in Antioch. They have always been available in some form, either in copies of the original Greek, or the old Latin of 150 AD, (NOT to be confused with Jerome's corrupt "Vulgate") or the Syrian Peshetto of 157 AD. That it would be difficult indeed to gather all of these sources together and place them in the hands of the common man gives credence to God's reasoning for the collation and translation of the King James Bible.

Words that are true...

Isa 45:19
19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

John 17:17
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Prov 22:20-21
20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
21 That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

Not words that are contradictory.

My thought is many replace faith with academics. What will you compare to God's word? Have men become wiser than God?

Is it now considered foolish to simply take Jesus at His word?

2 Timothy 2:15
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Are there some of a higher order, having esoteric insight to tell us truth?

There is a false notion that what anyone believes is as valid as what another person believes. The word of God tells us to study to show thyself approved unto God. We are to study Scripture. Yet today there is a plethora English language translations of the Bible, and they do not agree with one another. The question remains, do we have a true source of Scripture? Yes. I say that we do.

The word of God is the final authority in matters of faith. With the many contradictory renderings, if they are each to be counted valid, their is no final authority, but instead everyone does that which is right in their own eyes. With people each having a different Bible, with different meaning, doctrine and theology, rightly dividing the word is a moot point.

We are to study, and then rightly divide the word of truth.

1 Thess 2:13
13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

It is found that very early Christians in their writing referenced the Greek texts that were used for the King James Bible New Testament. Polycarp, a contemporary of the apostle John, that knew John personally, quoted in his writing some of the words used in the King James Bible, words that are not found in the Nestle or Westcott Hort. But about the same time Polycarp was quoting those readings, other altered renderings of Greek texts were also starting to appear.

The Nestle/Aland Greek texts are used for about every new English translation appearing. The difference between the Nestle/Aland, and what is referred to as the Greek Textus Receptus, is about 10,000 Greek words. Between additions, subtractions or changes there are that many differences. As an example, the New International Version has about 25% fewer words than the King James Bible. The Greek Textus Receptus has 140,521 Greek words and was used for the KJB New Testament. The King James Bible is Received text, i.e., Textus Receptus. The King James Bible is providentially preserved Scripture, wholly inerrant, infallible, and inspired, wholly the word of God.

It is found in addition to words being changed, 2,886 Greek words have simply been deleted leaving the Nestle/Aland missing words, the equivalent of deleting the books of 1 Peter and 2 Peter from the New Testament. Yet many go about saying the new versions that frequently appearing for sale are equal to, equivalent to the KJB. They certainly are not the same. In 1952, the RSV based on the altered Greek was promoted, saying, "Things equal to the same thing are equal to each other." Yet that RSV was based on a different foundation, not using the same as the KJB but instead the foundation used for all the many new versions frequently appearing today. Things different are not the same.

Now the Traditional Masoretic Hebrew used for the Old Testament is being altered, and new translations such as NKJV use the altered foundation, a different foundation, but are saying it is the same. What new altered versions will be released? What words will be deleted and changed as the word of God is changed according to the conjecture of men? We have the sure word of God, and men have no business changing what God has said.

The new translations do not say the same thing as the Authorized King James Bible. They do not simply use a different word meaning the same thing, but have a new meaning.

14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
KJV

Simply a different word, or a new meaning for the English Bible?
The word damnation has been replaced by condemnation.

The new English word says a reason to be blamed, worthy of punishment, but falls short of being punished. Do what you want, no reason to put off sins, for God will say it is wrong but will not punish you? The change in the English for that verse should not have been made in my opinion.

There are very many differences between the various versions. They are not saying he same thing, not meaning the same thing. Consider these few representative examples showing contradiction between the Authorized Kings James Bible and the New KJV.

Gal. 2:20: NKJV omits "nevertheless I live"

Strong's NT:1161 (de), and NT:2198 (zao) appear in the Nestle/Allen and they also appear in the Textus Receptus. They are translated "nevertheless I live" in the KJV.

KJB 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe <4100> (5725) on the name of the Son of God.

So, is salvation progressive? Some would explain that it is. But to insist salvation is progressive at the expense of a sure know so salvation, converted to Christ and convinced of the promise of eternal life, then the RCC has had their day. But perhaps the RCC are Baptist now, or the Baptists are RCC.

From the Freberg lexicon:
4100 pisteuo {pist-yoo'-o}
Meaning: 1) to think to be true, to be persuaded of, to credit, place confidence in 1a) of the thing believed 1a1) to credit, have confidence 1b) in a moral or religious reference 1b1) used in the NT of the conviction and trust to which a man is impelled by a certain inner and higher prerogative and law of soul 1b2) to trust in Jesus or God as able to aid either in obtaining or in doing something: saving faith 1bc) mere acknowledgment of some fact or event: intellectual faith 2) to entrust a thing to one, i.e. his fidelity 2a) to be intrusted with a thing
Origin: from 4102; TDNT - 6:174,849; v
Usage: AV - believe 239, commit unto 4, commit to (one's) trust 1, be committed unto 1, be put in trust with 1, be commit to one's trust 1, believer 1; 248

KJB 2 Corinthians 2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt <2585> the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

Why change to peddle, and in so doing hide the corruption factor?

Freberg lexicon:
2585 kapeleuo {kap-ale-yoo'-o}
Meaning: 1) to be a retailer, to peddle 2) to make money by selling anything 2a) to get sordid gain by dealing in anything, to do a thing for base gain 2b) to trade in the word of God 2b1) to try to get base gain by teaching divine truth 2c) to corrupt, to adulterate 2c1) peddlers were in the habit of adulterating their commodities for the sake of gain
Origin: from kapelos (a huckster); TDNT - 3:603,415; v
Usage: AV - corrupt 1; 1

There are a host of lexicons, and with that different words could be found. Keep in mind, the word of God, not the various lexicons are inspired. Be sure also the point about the KJB and NKJV has been made many times. The significance of the differences is a point of consideration. If the KJB and NKJV were the same, their would be no reason to change to the NKJV, and if they are different, their is no reason to stop using the KJB and start using the NKJV.

With pure words one would not have contradictions...

Psalms 12:6
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Psalms 19:7-8
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

Psalms 119:140
140 Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.

It is my conviction one does not need a perfect and complete Bible to hear enough to be converted to Christ. God's word needs to be heard. There are instances of people being converted by reading a tract, a verse, even a dictionary, commentary or hymn book, or contradictory version. But that does not make the source the complete Bible.

There are many translations not agreeing within their own pages, and the various translations not agreeing with one another. As such these various translations have in essence tares among the wheat. Reliance on these contradictory sources will produce tares alongside the faith once delivered. Nevertheless, salvation is of the Lord.

Also, it is my belief that any contemporary translation could very likely be found wanting even if translated from an original language text, even original language sources aligned with the KJV, and those that rely on the original language, even those original language sources aligned with the KJV, might very likely be found with a faulty translation. The translations would vary in meaning due to differences caused, i.e., by variations in understanding word meanings, differences resulting from reliance on various lexicons available in our time. But considering the KJV is not broken, not worn out, there is no need for a different translation. Settle in your mind about the Bible, not halting between opinions.

One can be converted by hearing a small part of God's word. Being converted by hearing a small part of God's word does not make void any other of God's word, and does not legitimatize errant words that they should be counted as true.

The authority and excellence of the word of God

1 Kings 18:36
36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

Ps 119:162
162 I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.

Luke 5:5
5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

Romans 10:17
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Job 23:12
12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Ps 119:16-19
16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.
18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.

Luke 4:4
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Ps 119:42
42 So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.

The wicked regard not the word. Many otherwise honest believers have been deceived by smooth words to follow their path.

The wicked corrupt the word

2 Cor 2:17
17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

The wicked think to change the word by their imaginations

Mark 7:9-13
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

The wicked reject the word of God

Jeremiah 8:9
9 The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is them?

The wicked stumble at the word of God

1 Peter 2:8
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

The wicked do not obey the word of God

Psalms 119:158
158 I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy word.

The wicked frequently wrest the word of God to their own destruction

2 Peter 3:16
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Consider these few examples of the word of God being changed:

Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

The NASU, NIV, ASV, NAS, RSV, NLT, and NKJV by foot note have removed “but by every word of God” from Luke 4:4 showing themselves defective. Based on the new defective translations man need not be concerned with living by every word of God. This is a perversion and supports words that will not profit the hearers being marketed and promoted by those pushing the false notion that things different are the same.

Matthew 27:34
34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
Psalms 69:21
21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

The NASU, NIV, NKJV plus foot notes in the NKJV, ASV, NAS, RSV, NLT have taken vinegar out and replaced it with wine. Vinegar and wine are not the same thing, this can be shown by a study of the Greek and Hebrew words, and since things that are different are not the same, Matthew 27:34 according to the modern defective translations does not show a fulfillment of Psalms 69:21.

Days of her purification

Luke 2:22
22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;

Lev 12:2, 4
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.
4 And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.

The word of God in Luke 2:22 has been changed in new translations NASU, NIV, ASV, NAS, and RSV to make it appear that the holy child Jesus was in need of purification. In Luke 2:22 "days of her" has been changed to "their" making it appear the Christ Child was un-pure, a sinner, and needed purification.

Angry without a cause

Matt 5:22
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Ps 7:11
11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

Mark 3:5
5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

NKJV foot note removes it, NASU, NIV, ASV, NAS, RSV removes "without a cause" and did remove the words without a valid cause, from Matthew 5:22 and so that verse shows Jesus a sinner.

What hath the LORD spoken? (Jer 23:32-36)

Many wonder what God has said, for one reads one version, another a different, one has a verse that another does not. The general opinion seems to be with some, it doesn't matter.

But it is written in the Holy Bible, "And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." (Luke 4:4) But that verse has been changed in new versions.

Consider Philippians 3:16, in the KJV, then look in some new versions. Words about walking by the same rule, and minding the same thing have been deleted. With those words removed is pictured what is happening, as one has this word, another a different, and some none at all for various verses. That I see as a devise of Satan.

Philippians 3:16
16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

I use the King James Bible because of the Textus Receptus Greek it is translated from, plus the Traditional Masoretic Hebrew the Old Testament is translated from, and it has stood the test of time, being passed on to us. New translations such as NKJV, NIV, RSV, NAS, ASV, NASU etc., have used different sources so most certainly are not the same. Advertising to promote the new translations is on a line claiming they are equivalent, that they are easier to read, and also the false claim they are better than the KJV. But the new translations all are different, not even agreeing with each other, so not equivalent.

As for the language of the KJV, for the moderately skilled reader there are honestly only about 200 or so words that might require effort to find the actual meaning, because of language differences from the time it was translated till now, but be sure the meaning of those words can be determined with a little effort by seeing the context of the word and consulting a dictionary.

Much is made of the words thee and thou found in the KJV. It seems incredible to me any would make a fuss of that as those words are certainly easy enough to read, but many complain at having to read them. Let's take a look at what the words thou, thee, thy, thine, ye, you, your, and yours mean as used n the Authorized King James version Bible.

Quoting The Language of the King James Bible; Gail Riplinger; Chap. 9, P. 117-119; (c) 1998 by Gail Riplinger.

Thou, Thee, Thine, & Ye

Singular and plural

  • The words that begin with ‘T’ (Thou, Thee, Thy, and Thine) are singular and indicate only one person.
  • The words that begin with ‘Y’ (Ye, You, and Yours) are plural and indicate more than one person.
  • Remember that letters are often pictures. The ‘T’ is a singular stick; the ‘Y’ is more than one stick.

The NKJV, NIV, CEV, NRSV, NASB, and most new versions do not make these distinctions. The word ‘you’ is used in all cases. The actual Greek or Hebrew numbers (either singular or plural) are therefore not revealed.

New versions confuse many important theological truths because of this. Note just two simple examples. Jesus said to Nicodemus:

KJV John 3:7 Marvel not that I say unto thee, ye must be born again.

NIV et al. You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again.

In the NIV the word ‘you’ is used for both the singular (thee) and the plural (Ye). The KJV is the only current version that clearly teaches that Jesus was not merely addressing Nicodemus alone. All men must be born again.

The second example is in Genesis 3. The serpent was the first to use the plural ‘ye.’ God speaks to the individual. (Remember, the KJV speaks of an individual as ‘he;’ the new inclusive versions use the plural ‘them’ instead, just like the serpent!)

KJV And the LORD God commanded the man, saying...thou shalt not eat of it...thou shalt surely die Gen 2:16-17

And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? ...Hast thou eaten of the tree Gen 3:9-11

All new versions substitute “you” for the singular “thou” and the plural “ye” in this verse, thereby missing an important distinction.

 Subject and Object

The KJV also distinguishes clearly between the subject and the object.

  • ‘Thou’ is used for the subject of the verb for the second person singular (“Thou art the man.”)
  • ‘Thee’ is used for the object of a verb for the second person singular. (“I gave thee bread.”)
  • ‘Ye’ is used for the subject of a verb for the second person plural. (“Praise ye the LORD.”)
  • ‘You’ is used for the object of a verb for the second person plural. (“I give you that.”)

New versions use ‘you’ for all four cases.

The singular forms are:

                        KJV      NIV et al.

Nominative ............ thou     you

Objective ............. thee     you

Possessive adjective .. thy      your

Possessive pronoun .... thine    your

The plural forms are:

                        KJV      NIV et al.

Nominative ............ ye       you

Objective ............. you      you

Possessive adjective .. your     your

Possessive pronoun .... yours    yours

End quote.

Note from Bob Krajcik: Changing the words thou, thee, thy, thine, and ye account for about 18,825 instances in the new versions where the distinction God gave has been lost, deleted, counted as insignificant. Is it insignificant? KJV Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

As it is written,

1 Thessalonians 2:13
13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Proverbs 3:5
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Luke 4:4
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Psalms 12:6
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

2 Peter 1:19
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

God has preserved His word for us. Christian truth is not outside the realm of the intellect. We are to reason, to study, but when ideas at the fancy of ones imagination enter, heresy develops. When reasoning brings one to claim error in the word of God, the error is with the man, not the word. We have a sure word that tells of a sure salvation.

We have a message of reconciliation,

2 Corinthians 5:20
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

We read,

2 Timothy 3:15-17
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Also I find,

Psalms 12:6-7
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

We receive the Scriptures, in English, those of us that are only English only speaking people, or we don't receive the Scriptures at all. It is Scripture given by inspiration of God we are to be concerned with, I see from my English Bible, and that is what we that are English only have to deal with. As I see this, the Lord keeps the words, He preserves them, and we are provided with the inspired word of God.

The same Lord that has resurrection power, all power, is the one that tells us His word is preserved, that every word of God is pure, and that Scripture given by inspiration of God is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

When Peter preached that day of Pentecost many years ago, and all heard the words in their own language, they were not short changed, but received the word of God. Now we have a written text, a more sure word of prophesy, and we are not short changed. We are able to carry out the great commission because of this.

How blessed we are that have the Holy Bible. May that Bible be revered.

2 Peter 1:19-21
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:8
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

James 3:13-18
13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

I hope this explanation of mine about my use of the King James Bible will be found helpful. I count the word of God a precious gift from God and recommend the reader consider the Book carefully.

1 Thess 2:13
13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

For about 400 years one translation, the KJV, has been scrutinized, and shows itself a sure word. The Bible is not in need of correction but it needs to be believed, as every word of God is pure, profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Revelation 22:18-19
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Deuteronomy 4:2
2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Proverbs 30:6
6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

It is written, "Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." We have the very word of God. As sure as the redeemed are preserved, so is the word of God we read preserved to tell us of our great salvation. We have a sure word that tells of a sure salvation. Shall we go instead with a message from men? (Jer 23:32-36) What hath the Lord spoken? (Ps11; 121:7-8; 145:20; 1 Pet 1:3-5)

Jeremiah 23:31-36
31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.
32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.
33 And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the LORD.
34 And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the LORD, I will even punish that man and his house.
35 Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the LORD answered? and, What hath the LORD spoken?
36 And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God.

The Scripture has been given, and there is nothing to add or take away. The Scripture has been given, Scripture, given by inspiration of God we have to deal with, and that Scripture is given by inspiration of God or is not the holy Scripture.

The duty to preach the word, to every nation, is discovered from reading Scripture. That of itself requires translation. Do you imagine one needs to be inspired themselves to translate word for word, to come up with a valid sure copy of God’s word? It is God that preserves the word and makes it available for us. The Scripture is given by inspiration of God. We have the sure word of God in the English language, the KJV.

Psalms 12:6-7 tells us the word is preserved, as do other passages of Scripture. Do we need to append all we say regarding faith, “It is not certain, but it is written...?” I'll not do that. Also, I'll not go about saying, "God's word should instead say..." Terms can be explained in a manner that does not require casting doubt on the word of God. Preach the word distinctly, and give the sense. Nehemiah 8:8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

The word we have has already been given,

2 Sam 23:2
2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

2 Peter 1:21
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

If there is some new message, I would suppose a new message would be given by inspiration of God. Is that what all the new Bibles that don’t agree with one another are about? Have we new prophets with a new message? No, we do not. So let us preach the word distinctly.

Amos 3:7
7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

2 Tim 3:16
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

The word is not hidden:

Psalms 78:1-7
1 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

The word is commanded for ever, and we have that word or we have nothing. We would have no commandment if it were not for us to see, but we are assured, "It is written..."

Psalms 105:8
8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

The word is not changing, and is settled in heaven. We have that settled, unchanging word for us, to look upon, to read and believe in the Bible:

Ps 119:89, 111, 152, 160
89 For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.
152 Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.
160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

That sure commandment is to be taken to all the world. If we did not have the commandment to obey, we could not go with the commandment to teach others to obey:

Matthew 28:19-20
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen

What of the thousands and thousands of changes in the many books marketed as if they were fully God's word? Face it, the new versions do not agree with each other and do not agree with the KJV. The KJV along with the many conflicting versions are said by some to each be fully God's word. Some say the KJV is fully the word of God, while they also say the NIV, NKJV, NASU, and a host of the other English versions not agreeing with each other are also each fully God's word.

Do you believe that different books published that change thousands and thousands of words, changing meanings, doctrines, and theology should each be considered fully God's word?

It is written..." Every word of God is pure (2 Sam 22:31; Ps 12:6; 119:140; Prov 30:5). Precious words!

I'll Not Give Up The Bible
[ Top of Page ]
Words & Music: William Thomas Giff, in The Seed Sower,
a Collection of Songs of Sunday Schools and Gospel Meetings,
edited by A. F. Myers (Toledo, Ohio: The W. W. Whitney Co., 1897).

I'll not give up the Bible,
That precious book divine,
For glory gilds its pages,
And truth adorns each line.

I'll never give up that holy book,
I'll never give up the Bible;
I'll never give up that holy book,
That precious book divine.
Though foes may fight against me,
And enemies combine,
Its precepts still shall guide me,
As light from heav'n they shine.
I'll never give up that holy book,
I'll never give up the Bible;
I'll never give up that holy book,
That precious book divine.
When fate's wild storms o'ercloud me,
And loud the billows roar,
My chart shall be the Bible,
To guide to heav'n's bright shore.
I'll never give up that holy book,
I'll never give up the Bible;
I'll never give up that holy book,
That precious book divine.

The Anvil

by John Clifford

Last eve I paused beside a blacksmith's door
And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime;
Then looking, I saw upon the floor,
Old hammers worn with beating years of time.

"How many anvils have you had," said I,
To wear and batter all these hammers so?"
"Just one," said he and then with twinkling eye,
"The anvil wears the hammers out, you know."

And so I thought, the anvil of God's Word
For ages, skeptic blows have beat upon.
Yet, tho the noise of falling blows was heard,
The anvil is unharmed, the hammers gone.

The KJB is not broken.
Watch you don't hurt yourself
if you swing your hammer at it.
