2006 Heidelberg College Summer Course @ University of Oxford (Oxford, UK)
If you would like to sign up for the 2006 Heidelberg College Summer Course @ the University of Oxford, please contact Dr. Marc O’Reilly (moreilly@heidelberg.edu or 419-448-2208). This NDI 100 course will occur June 16-July 14 (departing on June 15). This year, Drs. Daryl Close (Philosophy & Computer Science), Brian Haley (Education), and Traci Stark (Psychology) will teach an interdisciplinary course that examines the concept of sport -- i.e., how different academic disciplines understand, study, and evaluate sport. Anyone can sign up for this course. There is no prerequisite. The course will cost approximately $3,500, for which you will be lodged in a nice, comfortable Oxford house for four weeks; receive three Heidelberg College credits; be an associate student at New College, one of Oxford's very best and most prestigious colleges; take day trips to London, Stonehenge, Bath, York, and other impressive attractions; sample pub life (the legal age in England is 18), where students eat and socialize; enjoy "High Table" (a fancy dinner) at one of Oxford's colleges; and a boat ride party on the beautiful and famous Thames River. Airfare is not included (a roundtrip ticket to London should cost between $500 and $800). Look for specials.
While a student at Oxford, you can visit numerous European countries to sample a culture altogether different from the United States'. A week break from studies will occur when students can tour Europe.
Summer loans that cover the entire trip can be secured. Speak to Beth Kagy in the Financial Aid Office. Participants can also raise money by organizing fundraisers (car wash, bake sale, etc.).
Do not miss out on this excellent opportunity to travel abroad.
