• What are you expected to do on a Power Point screen like the one above?
  Click in the boxes and then type in your text.

• For the same slide, how would you insert a picture?
  Go to the Insert menu and select the Picture option.

• What is the purpose of the Apply Design option of Power Point?
  This allows a background to be inserted on all of the slides.

• What is a Transition?
  Transitions are how the slides fade in and out (the transition from slide 1 to slide 2 and so on).

• What is an Effect?
  If you want your bulleted items (or images) to show up at different times, you need to build effects.  If there are no effects, all of the bulleted items will appear at the same time.
  
• What is the purpose of buttons on a slide show?
  Buttons can give the user a choice to select. They allow the slide show to become interactive.
  
• What option must be set in order for the buttons to be the only "clickable" area of the slide show?
  Kiosk is the option that needs set in order for the buttons to be the only part of the slide that can be selected in order to progress through the presentation.

• When referring to databases, what is the difference between a field and a record?
  A field represents one category or piece of information withing the database.
  A record represents all the categories for one particular person or object in the database.

• When referring to databases, what is the difference between a sort and a search?
  A sort will rearrange the records in a particular order.   For example, you can sort alphabetically by name.  Within the sort you can decide if you want it ascending (low to high) or descending (high to low).

A search will find records that match the criteria you specifiy.   A database can find records of people that are older than 50 or all people that live in the state of Ohio. Searches are of the following types:

1. Exact Match:  The records must match the search criteria exactly
2. Partial Match:  Wildcard symbols (like the asterisk *) can be used to represent unknown letters.  You might do a partial match for all types of "berry" fruits (strawberry, raspberry, cranberry, blueberry).   The wildcard would represent any characters that came before the "berry".   For example:  *.berry
3. Numeric Match:  Logical operators can be used to find numerical information.  If you wanted all of the people older than 50 you would enter >50 in the Age field.

• What is a field definition?
  When setting up a database, each field type should be defined as to what type of information will be entered in that category.  Some examples are:   text, numeric, and date.  If these are not defined properly, searches and sorts may not work the way you expect them to.

• Why is it important to be consistent when typing information into a database?
  If information is not keyed in the same, you will get incorrect results when you do either searches or sorts.  For example, if information is entered as the digit 0 on one record, and the word none on others.
