More War

As an American, I am ashamed of the actions of some of our elected representatives. Some advocate the death penalty for bringing into the country personal-use amounts of marijuana. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich introduced legislation that would call for the death penalty for anyone caught smuggling "100 usual dosage units" into the country. This could be as little as 2 ounces of marijuana! Others would imprison doctors for discussing marijuana with their patients who express an interest. Imagine NOT being able to talk TO YOUR DOCTOR about a particular medicine! And still others would imprison increasing numbers of people for simple possession of marijuana, in order to "send the right message".

The voters in several states have approved marijuana for medical use, but the federal government won't give up. They're trying to pass anti-marijuana "House Resolution 372", in which our leaders have again stated that marijuana "... is a dangerous and addictive drug and should not be legalized for medical use". Rep Bill McCollum (R-Fl) even went so far as to say that Congress

"... must send a clear message [that]... marijuana is a highly addictive Schedule I drug... with no likelihood of FDA approval".
In spite of the huge (and still growing) body of evidence to the contrary, the government keeps spouting the same lies they've used for the past 80 years. Every major study in the last 100 years attests to the relative safety of marijuana.

Our federal government has shown that it does not care about the "will of the voters", or rights, or constitutional authority. They are going to continue to do exactly what they've been doing, unless Americans demand an accounting.

And we must demand an accounting, before it's too late.
