Dimples or Dumplin's

by Les Anderson, 1957

v.1
Well, I don't know what moves me, my stomach or my heart
I'm sort of in a pickle, I guess I'm not so smart
I've got one girl who's pretty, another who can cook
There's points in each one's favor that I can't overlook

Chorus:
Dimples or dumplins, they're both hard to beat
I like the pretty girl, but still I like to eat
One knows her stirring, one's the lovin' kind
Dimples or dumplins, I can't make up my mind

v.2
It seems that when I'm hungry, the cook's the one I'll wed
She loses her chances each time I get well-fed
Next day I go to courtin' my pretty buttercup
By then I'm far too hungry to even pucker up

Rpt. Ch.

v.3
Now I can't last much longer for things are sorta tight
One stuffs me in the daytime, one keeps me out all night
I've got to make my mind up, or I'll be gettin' ditched
Or some day, sure as shootin', they'll both be gettin hitched

Rpt. Ch.
