My name is George Shaffer. I am a retired
associate professor of mathematics. I was a member of the "American
Association
of University Professors" for 16 years. I have taught at the high
school
level for 16 years and 21 years at the college level ( 16 years full
time;
5 years part time). I have a special interest in electronics and have a
hobby of amateur radio; my call sign is (W8NTX). I was first licensed
in
1953 and have had over 50 years of enjoyable hamming. I spent two years
teaching in Japan and my call sign there was (KA7GS). I am a member of
"The American Society of Dowsers", I practice meditation and have had
vivid
visions, mostly in full color . I use dowsing along with meditation to
try and find answers. A master dowser I am not. I use L rods for
dowsing
and am mostly self taught and what I do in the way of dowsing most
everyone
can do (providing they have the right attitude).

In order to have good success in map dowsing one must prepare themselves for the process. There are about as many ways to prepare oneself as there are individuals. I like to hold a quartz crystal in my hand and stare at the crystal until I get a large blue aura around my hand and crystal. At times the aura occurs quickly and it could take as long as 5+ minutes. The crystal has nothing to do with map dowsing it just gets me relaxed and in the right frame of mind to possibly have success. It is quite important to be relaxed and your mind clear before starting the process of map dowsing. There are many ways to get into the right state of mind and remember what ever works for you is what you should use.
Map dousing is a lot of fun
and
if you really get interested in it, I suggest you go to the ASD
(American
Society of Dowsers) bookstore and purchase a booklet about map dowsing.

Another rock to look for.

Charlie has taken a trip and placed this rock somewhere in the USA.
See if you can find it and the location will be posted (Item 16) at the
bottom of this page in a few days.

Imogene and I will be taking an extensive trip in our small motor
home and will be traveling throughout the United States (We will start
our trip Dec 26, 2007) you may start looking for this stone now. Have
fun
and good luck. The location of this stone is placed at the bottom of
this
web page under item 15.

Imogene and I will be traveling in the South Eastern part of the
United States, east of the Mississippi River and we have placed a
decorated
stone (6/17/07) for map dowsers to find. You may start looking for this
stone now. I have placed the location of this stone under item 13
at the bottom of this web page.
Good luck

Sid (a dowsing friend) is taking a trip and will place this this

I used
my home
made L rods to find a place on our
There is a woods (approximately 5 acres) directly behind our
house
and Imogene (my wife) and I decided to build an energy path through
this
woods. I was looking for energy points in the woods that would be
beneficial
to anyone who would stand on these points for a short period of time.
The
length of time would depend on how long it took the individual to relax
. I used my L- Rods to find these points and rated the points on
a scale of 1 to 20 (20 having the maximum benefit). I found five such
points
(points that were 15 to 20 on my scale) and created a winding path that
connected these points.

This path has helped me in several ways. I will discuss one
in particular. I felt that I was losing circulation in both my
legs
because they felt a bit numb in certain places. I would walk the
path and meditate at the various energy points and ask that this
problem
be resolved. In about two weeks I noticed my legs were itching
from
my feet well past my knees. I thought possibly I had gotten into
chiggers (a tiny insect that gets under the skin and really
itches).
I could not relieve this itching even with rubbing alcohol or other
lotions.
It took me a while to realize that possibly the feeling was coming back
into my legs and that is what was causing the itching. I then
checked
the spots that felt a little numb and the numbness had totally
disappeared.
This happened over three years ago and numbness still has not returned.

The next thing I checked was to see if the energy path had any
effect
on the aura field of those who walked it. I used my three
grandson's
for this experiment (they were young enough at that time and would do
most
anything I asked). I checked the third (number 3 on the
drawing)
aura field on each one of them and recorded the distance. I then
asked them to walk the energy path, pausing about 30 seconds at each
energy
point. As the grandchildren exited the path I would check their
third
aura field again. I found that the distance for the third aura
field
had increased 15 to 20 times. I had them walk the path a second time
and
checked the third aura field again. This time the aura field had
extended so much I had to go into the neighbor's property so that I
could
douse the edge. I do not know if it proved to be beneficial to
them
or not but the effect was certainly interesting to note. I
checked
the third aura fields of my grandchildren about two days later and the
distance had gone back to their original places. The picture that I
have
shown just indicates the three aura fields (1, 2 and 3) it does not
actually
indicate the true distances that these fields are from the body.
The third field could actually be 10 ft. to hundreds of ft. away from
the
body . The distances will vary for each individual .
I believe the path is beneficial to those
who
walk on it and take the time to pause at the energy points. It is
also a beautiful place to just get out in nature and relax. Anyone can
create a path of this nature, even in a small backyard. All you need to
do is dowse for the energy points, create the path around them and
landscape
it to your liking. I believe you will find it to be a beneficial
project.
This is something that most everyone can learn. In a rather dimly lit room spread the fingers on your right hand, palm up, and look past your fingers to a white background or preferably black background. This can be done by placing a black or white sheet of paper behind your hand. Your Hand should be 6 to 10 inches above the paper (check the drawing below). Pay particular attention to the space between your fingers, after a little time (about a minute) and while you are still focusing on the paper behind your hand you should see a clear glow between the figures. You probably won't see color the first time you try this, but the more you practice color may began to appear. There are a few people, that I have worked with, that claim all they can see is that clear glow and never have seen color. The majority eventually do gain the ability to see color. Do not get discouraged, keep practicing and eventually you will be able to see the glow along with colors. After mastering this you are now ready to try another experiment. This is to be done during a moon lit evening. While you are outside select a tree (or a tree line) approximately 60 ft. away. Stare just beyond the tree line, or the tree, at an open space in the sky. You will eventually see a brilliant clear glow all around the tree or just above the tree line. I have always noticed when artists paint scenery the tree lines always have that glow around them. These artists may not be aware of it but they have always been able to see auras. All solid objects have an aura around them such as a table, automobile, post, you name it and it will have an aura (human critters and animals are the ones that have a variety of colors in their auras) . The next thing you should try is to see auras around people. You will need one other person in a dimly lit room with a white or black background behind the one whose aura you are trying to see (check the drawing below). Look past the person's head or shoulder and remember to focus on the white or black background and you will be amazed when the aura suddenly appears. If the Aura does not appear on your first try, don't get discouraged, just keep trying and you will eventually master the technique. Aura seeing is like any other skill, some people are better at it than others but I believe most everyone can see an aura at least some of the time. Some people believe they can tell a person's personality by reading the colors within that person's aura (I do not do this). This type of information is based on intuition and past experiences. An example of this would be a person's aura that displays a good deal of red color which might indicate anger. This may be true for a majority of cases but I am sure there are people that have much red in their auras and do not display or feel anger. Some healers read auras to find where the aura of the individual is weak or displays what we call a hole. Research does seem to indicate that the places in the body where the aura is weak is probably the area where something is not functioning properly. If you would like to ask me any questions about this process, for seeing auras, please use my e-mail address at the bottom of the page.

My method of scrying is
rather
unique and a very simple procedure to follow. I use a black stone
slab (obsidian or a very dark blue agate; slab) this slab needs to be
polished
on one side, so that when one looks into it they can see their
reflection.
The side of a black polished plastic TV set also works well for
me.
I am able to scry in bright light, medium light or dim light; it does
not
seem to make a great deal of difference. Find a place to comfortably
sit
down, with a small table in front of you (card table would work). Place
the polished stone on this table. When looking into the stone,
you
should not be able to see your face or the clothing that you are
wearing.
I usually wear a dark blue or black T-shirt or drape a black cloth
across
my shoulders and let it drop down past my waistline. Adjust the
stone
so that all you can see is a black void when looking into it. I
find
that dim light works best for me, there is no need for a lit candle or
any other type of ritual in order to scry. When scrying we are not
trying
to invoke the spirits we are just looking deeply within
ourselves.
The information we seek can be found there. The quieter the background
noise is; the easier it is for me to scry; sometimes I play pleasing
music
(at a very low level), whichever way seems to work for me at the time
is
what I use.
After following the procedure above you are now ready to start scrying. You will need to train yourself to learn how to totally relax. This is easily said but sometimes difficult to do. There are many ways to teach yourself to relax and many books have been written on this subject. I suggest trying to just be yourself and practice relaxing before purchasing a book. Look deeply into the stone (actually make your focus a little beyond the surface). After a period of time you should start seeing specks of swirling light or possibly clouds of light. If you are able to see specks of swirling light or clouds of light, then scrying may work for you. If after many attempts you are still not able to see the lights in the stone; then very likely scrying will not be your method of meditation. With the lights swirling within the stone, think of what you would like to see and if you are lucky (and over a period of time) you may began to see images. The more you practice the better you will get.
I also use this scrying method for dowsing. I first ask my question and then if the lights swirl in a clockwise direction this is a yes answer and if they swirls in a counter clockwise direction this would be a no answer.
There is nothing magical or demonic about scrying; it is simply a tool that can be used to gain information. If you are seeking information only from the source of love, light and truth you should not, in any way, be afraid to scry. I always invoke the source of love, light and truth before I begin any meditations.
Do not spend a great deal of money on the equipment you will use for scrying, it is simply not necessary. Take a close look at the picture that I have posted to show you how simple the equipment is that I use for this purpose. I have tried crystal and glass balls for scrying but they do not work well for me.
There are many books
written
on how to dowse for answers. Some of these books are quite
complicated
and others tend to use a much more direct approach. Some individuals
think
that dowsing is demonic but I believe it is one's attitude that
counts.
If we ask for answers only from "the highest source of love, light and
truth" our answers will be true and pure. One must start dowsing
by first having a positive attitude and stating that: I will only
accept
answers from "the highest source of love, light and truth". There
are many tools that can be used to receive a yes or no answer; a few of
these would be a Y shaped limb, l rod's which could be as simple
as bent coat hangers, many different kinds of pendulums which could be
as simple as a thread with a weight attached to one end, or a scrying
stone.
If one wants to use a scrying stone, then one must be able to see the
swirling
lights when staring into the stone.
My first choice, in dowsing for answers, would be
the L rods and my second choice would be the scrying stone. Some
believe
that there should be a type of ceremony before dowsing starts. I am not
one of these individuals. I start my dowsing sessions by first asking
the
question, " May I dowse for answers at this time?" and I ask this
through
the highest source of "love, light and truth". If I get a yes response
than I continue with the dowsing session. If I get a no response I do
not
dowse that question that day. If I am using the L rods and the rods
cross,
then this is a yes response, and if the rods spread apart this is a no
response. I program the rods before I start dowsing by
visualizing
in my mind that the crossing rods mean yes and the spreading rods mean
no. When I use the scrying stone, if the lights within this stone swirl
clockwise this is a yes and counter clockwise is a no. If one wants to
use the pendulum in dowsing, a yes or no can be determined by several
methods.
The method I use is to start the pendulum spiraling in a circular
clockwise
direction: then I ask my question. If the pendulum starts
swinging
back and forth parallel to my body this is a yes answer and if the
pendulum
stops its circular arc and swings back and forth perpendicular to my
body:
this is a no answer. There are many other ways to get a yes or no
answer from the pendulum but I am giving you the method that I use. I
do
not feel the Y shaped limb is a very good tool (for me) in dowsing for
a yes or no answer, therefore I do not use it.
The above paragraphs gives you a very simple and straightforward method in dowsing for answers. One needs to experiment with one or more of the dowsing tools to see which works best for them. If you expect to get accurate results you would need to do much practice and learn how to phrase an unambiguous question. The only way to get accurate answers is to have the question phrased in such a way that it could not possibly mean anything else but what you are asking. This is the difficult part of dowsing for answers, and this is where most individuals fail. I will give you a simple example of the type of question not to ask. Will it rain tomorrow? A question of this type will probably always gave you a yes response because somewhere in this world it will rain tomorrow. The question needs stated in such a way that the exact location of where you are asking about rain is perfectly pinpointed. Asking the right question is not as easy as it seems which you will discover when you start experimenting. There are many good books about dowsing and visiting the ASD'S online library will give you several choices. I believe you need to experiment a little first and if you still want to continue, purchase a book form the library.
