Saving a drowning American sailor near her Utopia Isle, Zarda learned about the World War taking place beyond her shores. She resolved to aid the Allies and left her island under the name Power Princess. The American government formed a special operating unit for her and other super-powered operatives known as the Golden Agency (see also Professor Imam, American Eagle)
After the war, her people, an offshoot of humanity genetically advanced by an alien race, decided that the Earth was becoming too small a place for them to remain undiscovered. They blasted their island/city into space, but Zarda, in love with the sailor she rescued, elected to remain.
Years later she again formed a super-hero team when she and Hyperion, Nighthawk, Amphibian, Dr, Spectrum, the Whizzer, and the Skrull had to join forces to defeat an alien robot. Although she has had to take several leaves of absense she is known as one of the powerhouses of the Squadron Supreme
