Medical Facilities

The Kalida area is fortunate to have excellent medical facilities.

Kalida has two general practice physicians in the medical arts building.

St. Rita's Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center in Glandorf, which is approximately 8 miles from Kalida, provides 24 hour emergency room services. Some services offered at the Ambulatory Care Center are CT Scanning, Ultrasound, Radiology, mammography, dialysis, and EKG.  Specialty clinics available at the Ambulatory Care Center are Cardiology, Cardio Thoracic Surgery, Endocrinology, Gastro-Intestinal, Neurology, OB-GYN and Internal Medicine.  This facility is fully staffed and capable of handling emergency and non-emergency situations.

Air evacuation to major trauma centers is also available through two "Life-Flight" services. St. Vincent's of Toledo, Ohio and Parkview Samaritan of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Either service can be in Kalida in 20 minutes of take-off. A landing zone is maintained at Kalida Elementary School for safe arrival and departure of patients from the Kalida Medical Center.

Kalida also has an Emergency Medical Service unit operated on a volunteer basis. Their response time is fantastic, along with their dedication to serve the needs of the community.

Also, in Ottawa, there is a Mental Health Clinic, an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center, and a retirement living center, Tawa Manor.

Within a ten mile radius of Kalida, there are four nursing homes - Putnam Acres Care Center and Hometown Nursing Home in Ottawa, Calvary Manor Nursing Home in Glandorf, and Paradise Oaks Quality Nursing Rehabilitation in Cloverdale.
