My Artwork!

I love to draw. Back in elementary and high school, art was always my favorite class. It was something I was half decent at. So, the other day I was going through some old papers, and found a picture I drew of Homer Simpson dressed up like Judge Dredd. Well inspiration knocked, and I decided to put up a page of some of my drawings. Hope you like them.

There are some things I draw better than others. Things I draw best are; superheroes, rock stars, and cartoon characters. That’s probably what you’re going to see here most.

Let’s start with a combination of the above listed art subjects. Here are some pictures of Homer and Bart Simpson as superheroes/comic book characters…

L. The afore-mentioned picture of Homer as Judge Dredd ("I am the D’OH!")

R. Bart and Homer as Robin and Batman ‘The D’OH-namic Duo’

Homer as The Flash!

I also love newspaper comic strips…so here’s a picture of a couple of my favorite characters from when I was in high school.

This is Bill the cat and Opus from Bloom County. It’s a still from their Christmas special called ‘A Wish For Wings That Work’. Bill is trying to help Opus the penguin to fly. The damn scanner cut off almost half the picture. Guess it was too light to read.

Now for some superheroes…

This is one I did of the X-Men team leader Scott Summers (A.K.A. Cyclops).

You all should know who this is. I mean, the movie DID gross over $400million in the theatres! Along with Robin, Spiderman is my favorite super hero. I did the proceeding two pictures back in ’95.

O.K., I didn’t draw this picture of the X-MEN, BUT, I did do the coloring. I know, it’s no different than a picture from a coloring book. I found a cool black and white picture of the team, and thought I’d test out my valuing technique. I think I did a pretty good job. Who knows…I might get lazy and color a few actual coloring book pages and scan them. It is my page after all. ;) We’ll see.

I love cartoons. I have a animation page after all. So, I also like to draw cartoon characters. Here are a couple of pages I did back in the 80’s. Forgive the yellowing, the pages I scanned them from are over 14 years old.

YABBA DABBA DO! Everybody’s favorite pre-historic animated family…The Flintstones.

Another movie that hit HUGE this last summer (’02) was Scooby Doo. Above is a collage I did back in the ‘80s. I think it was the day after I did the Flintstones picture.

I drove my art teacher in high school nuts only drawing rock star type pictures. I didn’t have too many pictures in the art shows, I think my teacher was a little biased. But you could always find me in art class or in study hall drawing some rock star, their band logo, or their mascot. Here are a couple of examples…

You may be asking why there’s a photo on my artwork page. Well, the reason is I did the shirt I’m wearing. It’s hand drawn, and hand painted. It took me almost a week to get it exactly the way I wanted it. And, it’s only been worn once, (to the KISS [Not so] Farewell Tour) so there wouldn’t be a chance of ruining it.

I drew this picture of Motley Crue in my notebook during study hall one day. The scanner yet again cut off a good chunk of Nikki Sixx.

I drew this on the back of a test I flunked. I don’t know why, but, I drew this Ozzy Osbourne album cover (No Rest For The Wicked) so many times I didn’t need to look at it any more to draw it after a certain point.

This is half of the logo for the band House Of Lords. Yet again, I was bored in study hall, had a picture of the logo from a issue of Metal Edge, so I folded a piece of paper in half and drew up the griffin.

Next to Motley’s Allister Fiend, and Maiden’s Eddie, my favorite rock band mascot was Bill Z. Bub. He was the demonic circus clown Texas (Don’t know if you can see it or not, but his ear ring is the state of Texas) band Dangerous Toys have on all their album covers. He’s really fun to draw. I drew this picture and really liked it. So I photo copied it, colored it, and had the band sign it for me. I gave the original to lead singer Jason McMaster. I also drew another one of Bill that I’m looking for to post here. I almost like it better than this one. I hope I can find it.

I also have a bad habit of drawing cartoon versions of myself. I drew up a page back in high school called ‘Famous Last Words’. I think it’s pretty self explanatory.

I’m going to ink this page so it can be seen better…Till then the word bubbles read…

  1. I’m sure there are no monsters under your bed. 2. Go ahead, the water’s deep enough to dive. 3. I’m positive this ride is safe. 4. Here, plug this in. 5. Yeah, I fixed the steering myself. Who needs a mechanic? 6. No…Those berries aren’t poisonous.
