You need to install the Client for Microsoft Networks Open the control panel (click Start, Settings, Control Panel) Double click on the Network icon. If the Client for Microsoft Windows is already here, go to step #2 Click on Add, Client, Add. Click on Microsoft from the list of manufacturers. Client for Microsoft Network should already be highlighted, click on OK. Click the Identification tab at the top of the Network window. Enter your bright.net username, lower case letters (do not add @bright.net). Click the tab key on your keyboard, enter bright.net for the workgroup. Click on OK and then choose Yes to reboot. When the machine reboots and you are prompted for a Username and Password, put in your bright.net Username, lower case letter, but leave the Password field blank. If you put in a password, you will need to type in a password every time just to get to your Windows desktop. Click OK and then OK again to confirm the blank password field. This should allow you to click on the save password field. |
click START, PROGRAMS, MSDOS Prompt at the C:\Windows> prompt type in, dir *.pwl (tap your enter key) You should see a name pwl and file size (at the bottom of the typing, you should also see a number of how many pwl files there are then the windows prompt) Now type del *.pwl (tape your enter key, this will delete these passwords) Close the dos prompt window (click the X in the upper right hand corner or type exit, tap enter) Back in windows, click Start, Settings, Control Panel In control panel double click NETWORK In the NETWORK window, click IDENTIFICATION Where it has Computer Name, type in your bright.net username in lower case letters (tap your tab key) Workgroup should be highlighted, type in bright.net Click OK (a window will come up asking you to restart your computer click, YES) When your computer reboots a window should come up asking for your username and password. Type in your bright.net username ****if you DO NOT type in a password to get to your Windows95 desktop, DO NOT type in a password here**** Another window will come up asking you to verify the password **leave blank if you DO NOT type in a password to get to the Windows desktop. You should be able to save your password now in your Win95 dialer. You do have to log onto the server at least once for this to save. |
