What is the Christian Union?
We have a lot to offer, so let's get better acquainted! Who We Are The Christian Union includes congregations in the United States as well as in Mexico and Africa. Our history spans over a hundred years and later you may enjoy learning about it. Since Christian Union was established in Columbus, Ohio in 1864, we have centered our faith upon the blessed Savior of mankind, the Lord Jesus Christ. He alone is the reason we exist. The Christian Union believes that our privilege and our duty is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ at all times, locations and opportunities. We also believe that the assembling of God's people ought to be a time of fellowship and sound Bible teaching. In fact, Christian Union is dedicated to building strong relationships among believers in our churches, which provide encouragement and support for Christians of all ages, races and walks of life. We also believe in teaching the Bible in a thorough, balanced manner. Our pastors are dedicated to teaching the practical, powerful truths of the Bible. Through the teaching and preaching in our churches believers can grow into strong, serving subjects of our Savior's eternal Kingdom. What We Believe We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible Word of God. In order for one to be saved he must put his trust in Jesus the Christ. The Holy Spirit immediately indwells a believer enabling him to serve God and others acceptably. We joyously look forward to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ for His Church. Our Local Churches Each of our congregations is unique, shaped by the needs of its people and its community as our Savior directs. Worship services are personal, reverent in inspiring. In each Christian Union Church you will find good preaching, a strong program of Christian education and sympathetic pastoral counseling. To belong to the Christian Union is to be a part of a warm, caring Christian family. Our Government Our local churches are led by elders and a pastor who guide the spiritual and temporal affairs of the church. Local churches are organized into District and State Councils and are governed nationally by the General Council of the Christian Union, which is composed of representatives from each local church. The General Council meets once every three years and helps to design and administer the mission, education and outreach of our churches. Our Mission Program The Christian Union is a mission-minded church with missionaries serving worldwide. We witness and serve in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and in various locations here in the United States. Our missionaries have founded and direct Teen Missions, Inc., which serves our Savior in many countries around the world. In addition to this we have Christian Union churches in Mexico and Nigeria. Our Welcome We are, in short, a denomination of people who have found a new life in Jesus Christ that is so exciting and satisfying that we rejoice to share it at every opportunity. We have found a deep satisfaction and an abiding source of strength in serving Christ through our local churches, and it is our sincere hop and earnest prayer that you will decide to become part of our fellowship with our Savior and with us as His people.
