To the best of my knowledge, there is nothing surrealistic about this painting. It has been 13 years now, since painting it, and no hidden meaning has revealed itself to me.
It would appear that this painting was an early indicator of the style that I am now pursuing. That being the use of flat colors and geometric shapes. It is still possible to create a 3-dimensional illusion with flat colors even without shading an object realistically. This early work was a mixture of flat (foreground buildings) and realistic (background buildings, horizon and sky) objects and shapes, much like the pieces I'm currently working on.
