The following is a listing of future events sponsored by the Putnam County Historical Society. Also included is a list of publications for purchase.

The Historical Society has in progress a program in which you can donate a brick to help support the Museum and it's work. You can choose what you want printed on the brick. Your Personal Brick will help form a Commemorative Walkway at the Museum in a beautiful garden setting. Some suggested occasions for a donation are, Birthdays, Graduations, Marriages, Anniversaries, Retirements, Final Tributes, Ancestor Tributes, Christmas Gift, or Family Tributes. Putnam County has a special heritage that is being preserved by the Historical Society. You can help the Society in it's effort to preserve the county's history by donating a brick. All these bricks in the garden will be a Testament to our forefathers who began bringing these names to our county over 100 years ago. A donation of $100.00 is requested for a brick. Special 8" x 16" stones are available for corporate or family donors at $500.00 each.

    Includes personal experiences ofthe pioneers who settled in Putnam County from 1820 to 1850 and the hardships and tribulations many of these people suffered. Also, the stories of the day-to-day incidents which occurred as they conquered the swamps and wilderness, and established farms, homes, and villages. These are truly BLACK SWAMP historical writings.

    This book contains 700 pages depicting the personal experience stories by students and teachers who attended or taught in the one room schools of Putnam County. These schools provided basic education for the people of this area for over one hundred years. The last one room school in the county closed in 1950. The book contains maps which help to locate the one room schools in each township. This is an unusual and exciting recitation of the events of the one room school house experience.
