For many years, silver amalgam fillings have been the best and economical choice to fill cavities in the back molar teeth. In the past, some people tried white fillings in their back teeth. However, the material available then wasn't very durable and often had to to be replaced. Dr. Ramsey now has tooth-colored plastic filling material that is strong like silver fillings, and will actually strengthen the tooth by holding the enamel tightly to it. Additionally, the tooth returns to its natural appearance, which is more cosmetically pleasing.
