Christine M. Garrett
Christine M. Garrett, 84, of 131 Gemini Drive, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at 2:45 a.m. at her residence as the result of complications from leukemia.

She was born on March 23, 1926, in Rosewood, the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Glendora (Bates) Scherer.

On Sept. 24, 1947, she married Oliver Willis Garrett and he passed away on Oct. 26, 2000.

She is survived by three children, Diana and husband Terry Clark, of Sidney, Randy and wife Dianne Garrett, of Sidney, Rick and wife Cindy Garrett, of Port Jefferson; five grandchildren, Deanna Garrett, Jamie Garrett, Nikke Capps, Ryan Garrett and Ross Garrett; six stepgrandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were, two brothers, Eugene and John Scherer, and two sisters, Betty Dressback and Mable Kachele.

Christine was a 1943 graduate of Rosewood High School. Her family noted that she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Christine had worked on the family farm until retiring in 1997. She also enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and working in the yard.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with the Rev. Dave Moran officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.

Friends may call on Tuesday, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Cromes Funeral Home.
