Nelson H.
"Tiny" Liess, 84, 705 Fulton St., passed away on Saturday, Feb.
26, 2011, at 1:10 p.m., at The Pavilion in Sidney.
He was born on Sept. 26, 1926, in Sidney, the son of the Late
Herbie and ILiea (Long) Liess.
On Sept. 9, 1947, he married Opal M. (Russell) Liess, and she
passed away on July 28, 1996.
He is survived by two sons, Roger and wife Judy Liess, of Fort
Loramie, Harold and wife Carolyn Liess, of Sidney; five
grandchildren, Jeff Liess, Tony and Christi Liess, Kathy Liess,
Phillip and Mistee Liess and Rachel Liess; 16
great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Ruth) Howell,
of Sidney and Irene Watkins, of Sidney.
Preceding him in death was one brother-in-law, Gerald Watkins.
Nelson was a retired farmer. For several years he also operated
the former Central Burial Vault Co. in Sidney. He also enjoyed
camping with his family at the Miami River near Quincy. Some
hobbies Nelson enjoyed were woodworking, gardening, playing
cards and traveling with his family.
He was a member of the Shelby County Senior Citizens, also the
St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Sidney.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m., at
Cromes Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tony Liess officiating.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., at Cromes
Funeral Home & Crematory, 302 S. Main Ave.
