Gretchen Hughes
MAPLEWOOD -
Gretchen Hughes, 85, of 9408 Baker Road, passed away Sunday,
April 17, 2011, at 8:10 p.m. at The Pavilion.
She was born on June 9, 1925, in Barthel, Kentucky, the
daughter of the late Ed and Delpha (Ross) Bradley. On Sept.
26, 1942, she married Thomas A. Hughes who preceded her in
death on Oct. 22, 1987.
She is survived by three sons, Dannie L. Hughes, of
Maplewood, David L. Hughes and his wife Cheryl, of Cummins,
Ga., and Albert A. Hughes and his wife Setsuko, of Sidney;
one daughter, Mrs. John (Shirley) McCullough, of Sidney;
five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Mrs. Ronnie (Betty
Lou) Murphy, of Pineknot, Ky.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Hughes was retired from Copeland Corp. and was a member
of the Sidney Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2011, at
10:30 a.m. from the Sidney Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave
Moran officiating. Burial will be at Shelby Memory Gardens
in Sidney.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 8 p.m. at
the Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S.Main Ave.
The family suggest that memorials may be made to the Sidney
Baptist Church or Wilson Memorial Hospice in memory of
Gretchen Hughes. Envelopes will be available at the funeral
home and church.
