Picnicking is a popular pastime at Tar Hollow. The picnic areas offer excellent scenery and a peaceful setting. Eight shelter houses can be reserved.

SHELTER CAMPS: $50 with electric/ $45 without electric

Pine Lake, Sycamore, Shady Hollow, Sheep's Pasture, Look-Out, Pine Point and Dogwood Shelters

Shelter Camps are picnic shelters which are available from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for overnight camping; or for day use between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The fee includes camping for up to 12 persons. For camping with more than 12 persons, there will be an additional fee of $2.00 per person over the quantity of 12, up to a maximum quantity of 20 persons.

Shelter Camps include picnic tables and a grill or fire ring.

Shelter Camp Reservations: Contact Tar Hollow State Park at (740) 887-4818 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. Reservations will begin the first Monday in November at the Tar Hollow Park Office, 16396 Tar Hollow Road, Laurelville, OH 43135.

Check in at the General Store or Park Office BEFORE setting up camp.

Shady Hollow Shelter House: $50 per night - includes 30 amp electric

Pine Lake Shelter: $50 per night - includes 30 amp electric

Sycamore Shelter: $50 per night - includes 50 amp electric hook-up for two campers

Sheep Pasture Shelter: $45 per night.

Look Out Shelter: $45 - includes a fireplace

Pine Point Shelter: $45 per night - includes a fireplace

Dogwood Shelter: $45 per night - includes a fireplace

DAY USE SHELTER HOUSE:

Big Shelter House: $58.25

The Big Shelter House is available for day use only. (Camping is NOT permitted). The Big Shelter contains two fireplaces, electricity and picnic tables. Located outside of the shelter are grills, horse shoe courts and water. A playground is located nearby as well as vault latrines.
