Lois McMaster Bujold

I resisted picking up the Miles Vorkosigan books for quite a long time. Fortunately I did finally pick up Shards of Honor and was hooked. After reading it that night I went back the next day and bought everything else in the series. This has brought me many hours of pleasure. I recommend you don't wait as long as I did. It can be really expensive to purchase all of the books at once.

A Civil Campaign

The newest Miles adventure find him planning out his courtship. He approaches it as a military campaign, which he is very good at planning. Unfortunately for him, his intended does not view it in quite the same manner. This difference results in a great deal of comedy, and some very painful moments. The dinner party is perhaps the high point of both, I found myself laughing out loud and wincing at the same time. Some of the best writing I have ever read.

The main focus is on Miles and his campaign, but we never lose sight of the supporting universe. Mark is back, in love and trying to get even richer. Ivan is looking for love, getting involved in politics, and we get to see much more of his point of view then previously. This is both well done and welcome. Actually, the entire book is well done and welcome. A lot of fun and well worth the money.
