"THIS OLD HOUSE"
The Ottoville School Music Department will present the musical comedy "This Old House" on Friday, April 16, 1999 and Saturday, April 17, 1999. Showtime is 7:30 each evening, and admission is $3.50 at the door.
Ottoville High School is the first theater group in Northwest Ohio to perform this hilarious new off-Broadway musical. Veteran playwright Tim Kelly teams with composer/lyricist Stephen Murray to create a show packed with catchy tunes and loads of laughs!
In "This Old House", an old Victorian mansion, once a stately and elegant beauty, is now a rooming house for rambunctious college students. With the help of her scatterbrain nephew and devoted niece, Mona Babbington struggles to hold off the wrecking ball. This is not an easy task, considering Silas Price, the town octopus, is eager to turn the property into a parking lot. Plus, Mona is $50,000 in hock to a rich spinster who has a score to settle with the Widow Babbington. To raise money, the students decide to sell all the junk in the old house at a yard sale, but little do they know what complications they face! For example, boarder and scientist Calvin Gregg has invented a weird gas that causes victims to revert to childhood, and the government is very interested! Judy Linseed dresses in battle gear because she is convinced space aliens are coming to take over the world. Toss in hostile neighbors, a frustrated cab driver and a pack of eager shoppers and you have a hilarious mixture of tasty characters and knockabout craziness.
