Director of Baseball/Head Coach

Job Description

Director of Baseball Summary:

You will perform a variety of duties related to providing the start of a new Connie Mack baseball program in Cheyenne, WY.

You will be responsible for identifying the needs of this baseball program for several teams ages 13-18 that will play in the Colorado AABC leagues and area tournaments.

You are required to perform various tasks including but not limited to:

Acting as head coach of the program’s top level team, running baseball camps, providing direction and oversight to the lower level team coaches, laying out team practices for all age groups, addressing problems at all age levels, and working with and reporting to the Association’s Board of Directors.

 

Responsibilities of the Director of Baseball include:

Communicate with the public, and other medias, giving interviews and responding to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.

Train and develop players to perform at the highest level.

Knowledge of baseball rules and regulations, including Connie Mack, as well as lower divisions and any tournaments entered.

Organize and run effective practices.

 

Work Schedule:

Winter hours part-time per month. Part-time work hours as your schedule permits.

Laying out information to other coaches for winter practice and possible camps. Attend one Board meeting/Coaches meeting/Team Clinic in December during the Christmas break. Assist in laying out equipment needs and teams’ needs for upcoming 2009 season.

Spring hours part-time per month. Part-time work hours as your schedule permits. Laying out information to other coaches for Spring practice and possible camps. Attend one Board meeting/Coaches meeting/Team Clinic over Spring break. Assist in laying out baseball schedules with other coaches and possible tournaments at all baseball age groups.

Summer hours part-time per month. Part-time work hours as the baseball schedule directs. Head Coach of the highest age group in the Connie Mack program. Overseeing the lower age division Connie Mack teams and coaches. Assisting those coaches and teams to develop the highest baseball athlete possible. Helping existing ballplayers with college looks, using contacts to help those players get possible opportunities at a college baseball program.

The Connie Mack program will pay for pre-employment travel expenses (e.g., travel to and from your area to the Cheyenne area). As part of the evaluation process you will be required to meet by phone or in person and be available for questions and/or concerns.

Availability to indoor practice facility, equipment and supplies from Summer Wood Bat program. Help from coaches and players in the Wood Bat college program for training and camps.

Fundraising performed by the Board to support program’s financial needs.

Great media exposure in the Cheyenne community. Website, other local job opportunities, host families available throughout the Summer program.

 

Qualifications

You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.

You must have a High School diploma, GED or equivalent.

You must have High School or College baseball coaching experience.

Director of Baseball must meet the following standards:

Must be drug free and be a good role model for all players.

Will be required to undergo background checks.
