Highlights: In the past 5 years I have remarried to Rose Eversman from New Knoxville. I have been promoted from Captain to Asst. Coordinator for the City of St. Marys. We purchased a vacation home on Lake Erie and try to spend as much time as possible there. We enjoy boating and fishing. I also enjoy weight lifting and cycling. My oldest son Ryan is now a junior at Bowling Green. My other son Chris graduated from Memorial this year. We recently took the boys on a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise with Carnival Cruise lines, they loved it and can't wait to go again.

Highlights:
Traveling has been the highlight of our past five years.
In 1996 we enjoyed a Carnival Cruise, visiting such islands as San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Johns, Gudadaloupe, Grenada, Caracas & Aruba, in the Southern Caribbean.
Our first island was San Juan, unfortunately we did not get time to explore it. Our plane arrived late the first day and then the last day we were one of the last ones off of the ship because it was slow going thru customs.
From San Juan we stopped at St. Thomas. That island had not yet recovered from the hurricane that had ripped thru it six months earlier. We took a boat trip from there to St. Johns.
St. John's island was breath-takingly beautiful. Trunk Bay with it's white sand beaches surrounded by sky blue water was especially beautiful. We spent the afternoon snorkeling and sunbathing there. St. John's island was one of the most expensive resort islands. The island was settled by the Rockefeller's. Give you any idea why it was so costly.
Next stop was Guadaloupe. We ventured only as far as the open air markets just inside of the harbor. The narrow streets were lined with Mercedes, and tall buildings hovered over them. Motorcycles were popular too, and they had a really nice Harley Davidson shop.
Grenada, known as "spice island" held true to its name. It was a quaint island with natives everywhere trying to sell you spices or braid your hair. We stopped in a place resembling an old fashioned soda shop for some refreshments. There we met a gentleman who did nothing except sail his boat from island to island. He told us about the church and the fort on the island, but we unfortunately did not have time to see them.
Aruba was a picturesque island surrounded by turquoise blue water on the southwestern shore which accommodated swimmers and snorkelers. The other side of the island contained sharp jagged cliffs, deep dark blue water and a warning from islanders, "sharks swim there". Because Aruba is close to the equator, the temperature is always perfect. Hurricanes are not a problem there, making it the perfect place to take up residencey. Getting around the island was easy, you just hopped on a bus and for a dollar the island was yours to encounter.
Caracas held quite a different atmosphere. A taxi service took us on a tour high into the mountains to a glass-blowing factory. On the way there our "cabbie" told us about their culture. There is no social security, so parents raise many children, and in turn the children keep the parents in their old age. The government makes money from the horse race tracks and in turn sends people to school and college free.
Straight up the dirt hillside, along the main road, stood "shacks" with no connecting roads. People walked everywhere they went. Back down the mountain as we passe a military base close to down-town Caracas, we witnessed soldiers standing on street corners cradling machine guns. They smiled and waved as we drove by. It gave you that warm and cozy feeling all over -- NOT!
Caracas itself held very neat, modern buildings with good clean streets and courteous drivers. We parked in a gated lot owned by the Mofia and walked thru the streets. We went thru a couple of leather and jewelry shops, but for the most part everything was closed from about 12 noon until 2 p.m. for a siesta.
Later we ate at a Pizza Hut. Alfredo, the cabbie, ordered for us and paid for our food as no English was spoken or American money accepted. We in turn paid him back. It was one of the best pizzas we had ever eaten!. From there we made a stop at the grocery store. Their store looked like our Big Bear, and again no English was spoken or American money accepted.
On our way back to the airport where our journey started, Alfredo asked if we had enjoyed our tour and we said yes. Then back at the terminal, Judy Kennedy, the owner/operator of the tour service asked us the same question. She told us that if we were dissatisfied we owed nothing, which amazed us. We told her we were more than satisfied with the tour and the service. Besides the fee we even tipped Alfredo.
When we were not exploring a new and exciting island, we were aboard the ship "Fascination." At the time it was the biggest ship in the Carnival Cruise Line. Everywhere you looked on board the elegant ship was brass, glass and marble. There were shops, bars, Las Vegas type shows, a spa, beauty salon, work-out rooms, running track, pools, and hot tubs. They truly are "floating hotels." Everything was constantly cleaned or painted whether in port or out to sea.
The nicest thing about the cruise was the fact we were waited on hand and foot. Beds were made and then turned down at night. Clothes were folded and put away. And of course it was fun to see what kind of animal figure the cabin boy had made out of your wet towels.
In 1997 we spent a week on the island of Cozumel Mexico. We were there for their "carnival." The inhabitants decorated the town, and wore native costume. In the town square artists painted beautiful pictures. It was in the town square we met Pedro, the parrot. Pedro was quite talkative and friendly coaxing tourists closer. Once you held, petted and talked to Pedro, payment was expected. Needles to say the bird made quite a living for his owner. Our days on the island were filled with such things as scuba diving, deep sea fishing, parasailing, and of course snorkeling.
One day we took a boat ride from Cozumel over to Cancun. We were greeted by Mexico's "Navy" who guarded the port from high towers. The government let those guys play with machine guns too. Again that warm welcome feeling was replaced with apprehension. We caught a taxi to a resort called Excarat back in a jungle area. It was there I swam with the dolphins. That was by far the greatest adventure of my life. The dolphins were highly intelligent, extremely strong, yet very gentle, but most of all they were magnificently graceful creatures. The feel of their skin was like slick smooth rubber. Their eyes had a strange looking film, which gave an air of mystery when I peered into them.
Besides swimming with the dolphins, the most exciting thing that has happened to me was in the summer of '95. I bought a 1989, 454 Kawasaki motorcycle. I practiced riding it for about a month, took my test and actually passed on the first try! Since then I have spent many enjoyable days cruising the countryside.

Highlights:
The past five years have been busy ones with 5 children and driving bus for Auglaize School and a husband of 22 years.
My oldest daughter has graduated from high school and is presently attending Columbus Community College in Columbus, Ohio, studying Sign Language Interpreting. She will graduate in Sept, 1997.
We lost our second daughter in a triple fatality in January. She would have graduated this year.
Scott is deaf and is a Junior at Ohio School for the Deaf in Columbus, OH.
Matt is a Soph. at Wapakoneta High School and Tina is a Eighth Grader at New Bremen High School.
I have been very involved with the Auglaize School and the many activities involved with it. Bus driving also keeps me hopping, but I really enjoy it even though I have been involved in 2 bus accidents, one major which layed me up for about 6 wks, 4 years ago.
I work with the bank from New Bremen sewing many of their flags.
I have really enjoyed working on the committee for our 25th Reunion with Peg, Treva, & Betty. We have had many enjoyable evenings together and I hope we will see all of you at this reunion and at our 30th.

Highlights:
Many great things have happened in my life over the last 5 years, but I'll highlight a few of the major ones. First of all, I finally settled down and married a smart, beautiful lady with many talents, a good sense of humor, and more. Evey and I enjoy playing and working together; snow skiing, scuba diving, golfing, biking, camping, travelling, spoiling grandkids, running our own business, etc. Happiness is being married to my best friend. Secondly I moved back to Ohio (form Wichita, Kansas) in 1994 to help my parents get back on their feet, after serious health problems. My brothers and I are doing what we can to help them enjoy the rest of their lives at their beautiful country home north of Columbus. Thirdly, I am pursuing one of my life goals: to manage my own successful business. Evey and I have created a company named Environmental & Energy Enterprises. Our mission is the development of environmental, energy technologies, policies, and public awareness to help make this planet inhabitable by humans for many years to come. Finally, my attitude about life has changed greatly over the last 5 years. I've developed a more positive attitude, giving a greater priority to the pursuit of good health and happiness, appreciating family and friends, reducing stress and enjoying life every day.
