MODIFIED PRACTICAL PISTOL COMPETITION Production Guns Only, 2002
SAFETY
All firearms are to be
"UNLOADED" in a holster or carrying bag as soon as the
participant removes his firearm from his vehicle and enters the range area.
All firearms are to be stored with receivers open and magazines removed
unless in a holster. Holstered
firearms will have their magazines removed, pistol unloaded, and hammer
down.
No participant is permitted to handle firearms until he is instructed to
retrieve his firearm and stand in the shooting box. If a participant needs to handle his firearm at any other
time, he is to advise the range officer, and then he is to handle the
firearm only in the designated "SAFE HANDLING AREA."
No participant is permitted to load more then 12 rounds into his firearm.
No participant may load his firearm until directed by the Range
Officer. After loading his firearm, the participant may safety holster his
firearm or maintain the "Ready Position" which is having arms
extended out, firearm pointed down at the ground approximately 4' in front
of the participant. Each
participant is to keep his firearm pointed down range at all times.
That means the firearm cannot break the 180-degree plane of the
target area. As the participant
moves from one station to another, the safety must be on and no fingers are
permitted inside trigger guard. While a participant is firing his match, "THE RANGE IS HOT". Only
the Range Officer and Scorer are permitted on the range with the shooter
until the range is cleared and declared safe by the Range Officer.
No participant is permitted to leave the firing line until the Range
Officer checks to see that his firearm is "OPEN,
CLEAR, AND SAFE." After
cleared by the range officer the participant either returns the firearm to
its storage area, or removes his firearm from the general area of the range. Any participant that violates a safety rule or conducts himself in an
unsafe manner is subject to being disqualified and being asked to leave the
range.
